2018 STAFDA President, Michelle St. John

Michelle St John, STAFDA Vice President

Michelle St. John is Co-Owner and President of IBS, Inc. (Industrial Bolt & Supply, Inc.), Auburn, WA. IBS was founded in 1977 by her parents, Jack and Linda Butcher, who sold the company to Michelle and her brother, CEO, Derek Butcher, in 2007 upon their retirement. The company specializes in the MRO market and has sales operations in eight western states. Michelle has a degree in Business Administration and Marketing from Washington State University. She is the proud mother of two adult daughters, is active in her church, and in her free time enjoys the Pacific Northwest’s great outdoors, the Seattle sports scene, fine dining, and performing arts. IBS has been a STAFDA member since 1978. 2017 June Board Report

 

 STAFDA Vice President, Sean Baird

Sean Baird, STAFDA Board of Directors


Sean Baird is President and owner of Hampton Roads Fastener & Construction Supply Inc. (HRFCS), Virginia Beach, VA.  HRFCS was founded by his father, Grant Baird, in 1993. Grant enticed Sean to leave Coca-Cola and corporate America and sold him the business in 2005. Sean’s son, Shane, joined the company in 2008 as a salesman and is now responsible for the company’s sales and marketing efforts. HRFCS specializes in fasteners and construction supplies for new commercial construction and industrial accounts. Sean has a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Old Dominion University. He and his wife Suzanne keep very busy with two grandsons. HRFCS joined STAFDA in 2005.

Steve Bailey
Steve Bailey is President and third-generation owner of Bailey Tools & Safety, Louisville, KY. Bailey Tools was founded in 1937 by his grandfather as a machine shop. Through the years the company transitioned from manufacturing to its current distribution model with a branch in Indianapolis, IN. As the youngest of six siblings, Steve grew up in the business working summers while in school. After graduating from Bellarmine University in 1991, Steve purchased Bailey Tools from his father in 1994. He is also currently serving as President of the Board of Directors for the Evergreen Marketing Group. Steve lives in Goshen, KY, with his wife Nancy and their two teenage children. Bailey Tools has been a STAFDA member since 1977.
Jeff Brown, STAFDA Board of Directors
Jeff Brown is President and Owner of Brinker Brown Fastener & Supply, Inc., Fort Myers, FL. He began in the industry in 1978 when he took a sales position with Automatic Fasteners under Ed Joffe, one of STAFDA’s founding members. Jeff, with his partner, the late Walt Kerr, founded Brinker Brown in 1985. After 10 years in business together, Jeff bought Walt out. In August 2008, Jeff and his team launched WholesalePowerTools.com e-commerce website during the beginning of the economic recession. He is proud to be a charter member of Sphere 1. Jeff and his wife Kim have two sons in college. He spends his free time boating, fishing, and piloting his airplane to his lake house in South Carolina. Brinker Brown joined STAFDA in 1985.
Dan Esch, STAFDA Board of Directors

Dan Esch is President of Esch Construction Supply, Inc., St. Paul, MN, where he worked first for 10 years as a 100% commissioned salesman in Minnesota and Wisconsin. He bought Esch Construction Supply from his uncle, Mike Esch, in 1998, and opened a St. Paul branch in 2005 and expanded the store in 2012. Dan added second store in Waukesha, WI, in 2015. He is a graduate of St. Thomas College with a BA degree in Business Administration - Finance. Dan and  his wife Elizabeth (Esch’s VP) have been married 19 years and have four children. Esch Construction has been a STAFDA member since 2003.

Brian Gersten

Brian Gersten is the owner and secretary/treasurer of On Time Supply, Suffern, NY. The distributorship was founded in 1993 by himself, his wife, and his parents. On Time specializes in pneumatic and electric power tools, fastening systems, packaging materials, and specialty items for construction and industrial manufacturing. It’s a family business with his father having retired from Duo-Fast Corp. only to fulfill his dream of a family-owned business. Gersten’s sons, Scott (VP-Sales) and Michael (VP-Operations), are the third generation in the company with his 84-year old mother still actively involved. He received his degree from Pace University and has been married to Maryanne for 33 years, On Time’s office manager. In his free time, Gersten enjoys travel and spending time with his family. They all share a love of ice hockey and are loyal New York Rangers fans.  On Time Supply has been a STAFDA member for 21 years.

Greg Hughes, STAFDA Board of Directors
Greg Hughes is President and Owner of Kinnunen Sales & Rental, Inc., Stillwater, OK. Kinnunen has three branches in Stillwater and Enid serving the construction, residential, and industrial markets. Kinnunen supplies a wide variety of products ranging from concrete supplies, power tools, hardware, and outdoor products to EZ-GO Golf Carts and Bad Boy Offroad Vehicles. The company was founded by Ray Kinnunen in 1991. Greg began his career with the company in 1996 as an outside salesperson and purchased the company in 2013. Greg and his wife Wendy, who also works for the business, have been married 25 years and have two children, Sage and Sienna. They enjoy traveling and spending time together. Kinnunen has been a STAFDA member since 2006.
Marc Krofchick, STAFDA Board of Directors Marc Krofchick is Vice President of Crispo Canada Inc., Bolton, ON. Founded in 1920, Crispo is one of the largest generic distributors of fasteners to the pneumatic tool industry in Canada. Marc started with Crispo in 1998 in sales and today continues to have a hand in sales while responsible for the day-to-day operations of the company. Prior to joining Crispo, Marc started his career in sales with a computer programing services company. When not at work, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends, playing sports, and traveling.

Tom Leahy, STAFDA President

Tom Leahy is Chief Operating Officer of Border Construction Specialties, Phoenix, AZ, with responsibilities including managing facilities, assets, insurance, supply chain, safety, and sales teams at the company’s 12 locations. Tom has more than 28 years of experience in sales, marketing, operations, human resources, and purchasing disciplines while focused on bottom line profit and company growth. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from Colorado State University. He also is involved in multiple associations such as Arizona Subcontractors’ Association, Arizona Masonry Guild, International Concrete Repair Institute (ICRI), and Arizona Builders’ Alliance. Tom has been married to his college sweetheart, Lori, for 28 years and have two wonderful children, Mindy and Matt. They enjoy traveling as a family and spending time together. Border Construction Specialties has been a STAFDA member since 2008.

Al Talbot, STAFDA Board of Directors

Al Talbot, President of Western States Tool & Supply Corp., Hayward, CA, started in industrial distribution as a summer driver and warehouse employee for an industrial/welding supply distributor. After graduating from U.C. Berkeley, Al was promoted to an inside sales position and then to outside sales. Over the next five years, he held several key positions including logistics, administration, and corporate sales. In 1985, Al and an associate established Western States Tool & Supply. Western States has made three acquisitions the past few years broadening their customer and vendor base. Al and his wife Lucy have three sons. Western States joined STAFDA in 1995.

Linda Trotter

Linda Trotter is President and Co-Owner of Bright Bolt Enterprises, Inc., El Paso, TX. Bright Bolt was founded in 1983 and acquired by Linda and her husband Randy in 1995 in Las Cruces, NM. Their company specializes in providing job site service for construction projects focusing primarily on commercial and industrial accounts. The company offers a variety of products including fasteners and fastening systems, safety equipment, and construction supplies. Bright Bolt has been a STAFDA member since 1997.
