2010 STAFDA President
Robert Devers

Robert Devers is Chief Operating Officer of A-Jax Company, Jacksonville, FL. He began his career in Industrial Distribution in 1984 after graduating from Jacksonville University with a BS in Business Mgmt. He joined A-Jax as an inside salesperson, and has worked in many areas of the company. He & his wife Melissa have two teenagers. In addition to being active in his church, Robert has been president of the NE FL Affiliate of the Purchasing Mgrs. Assoc. & president of the Jacksonville University Alumni Assoc. He is currently serving his second term as Community Service Chairperson for the Oceanside Rotary Club. An accomplished runner and tri-athlete, he is currently training for the ING New York City Marathon. A-Jax joined STAFDA in 1982.

Mike Kangas

Mike Kangas is President & General Manager of Alaska Industrial Hardware (AIH), an ESOP company based in Anchorage, AK, with eight locations and 230 employees throughout the state. AIH will celebrate their 50th anniversary in conjunction with the State of Alaska 's 50th anniversary in 2009. AIH provides tools, hardware, and construction supplies to all communities throughout Alaska. Mike started with AIH in 1980 as Branch Manager and has held many positions in the company over the years. Mike and his wife of 30 years, Theresa, have two children. He is an avid pilot and outdoorsman. AIH has been a STAFDA member since 1979.

Matthew Botts is owner of Stronghold Supply Inc., Manassas , VA. Matt learned early on about tools working with his father on their family horse boarding business. He started in the fastener business in 1983 at Hughes Tool Supply, Tampa, FL. Matt founded Stronghold Supply in 1996. Stronghold is a full service tool & fastener distributor that serves residential, commercial contractors & manufacturers. He & his wife, Kimberly, run the operation & have two children. Aside from work, for 30 years Matt has been part of the management team for the Old Dominion 100 Mile 1-Day Run, Inc. He also enjoys riding his horses & playing beach volleyball. Stronghold Supply joined STAFDA in 1997.
 
Kramer Darragh is President of Darragh Company, Little Rock, AR, a family-owned business founded by his grandfather in 1906. Kramer began working for the company in 1972 and has filled several positions within it prior to being elected president in 1987. Darragh Company has six branches in Arkansas and one in Texas where it sells concrete and highway construction accessories, waterproofing and masonry supplies, and erosion control systems. The company recently started a tool repair business to enhance tool and fastener sales. Kramer and his wife, Ida, have been married for 38 years and have one son (Ted who joined the company in 2004), two daughters, and three grandchildren. Darragh Company has been a STAFDA member since 1995.
 
Tom Gleason is president of family-owned and operated Electrical Fasteners Company (ELFCO), Mokena, IL. Established nearly 40 years ago by Jack Gleason, ELFCO strictly provided nuts and bolts, but today it has emerged as a partner with some of the largest commercial contractors in the Chicagoland area. Tom has been married to his wife, Kelly, for 24 years and they have four children. He is an avid sports fan and enjoys golfing and hunting. ELFCO joined STAFDA in 1992.
 
Rod Gowett is the president of Bay Tool & Supply, Milpitas, CA, with branches in San Francisco and Reno, NV. He began his career in 1979 when he was an outside sales rep for Don Newcomb Tool, Santa Clara, CA, a former STAFDA member. In 1992, Gowett founded Bay Tool & Supply in San Jose, CA, catering to electrical and plumbing contractors. In 2003, he joined the Evergreen Marketing Group Board of Directors and became their Chairman in 2005. When not working, Gowett enjoys a variety of sports and working on his ranch with wife, Melinda, and family. Bay Tool & Supply joined STAFDA in 1994.
 
Rick Lamb is the sales and marketing manager of Frank’s Supply, Albuquerque, NM. Frank’s  sells, rents, and services professional-grade tooling, equipment, and supplies. They have five stores — four in New Mexico and one in Texas. Before joining the team at Frank’s, Rick was a sales rep for Ingersoll-Rand and then Stanley Proto Industrial Tools. He is currently  on the Board of Directors of the Evergreen Marketing Group. Rick has two children and enjoys playing the guitar, skiing, and playing basketball. Frank’s Supply has been a STAFDA member since 1978.
 
As VP of ProBuild Specialty Building Products, Corporate Offices in Denver, CO, Hal Look provides strategic direction for ProBuild’s entry into the Specialty Building Products category.  He manages all aspects of this business development effort which include sales, operations, vendor relations, high-profile customer relations, & PR.  Hal has been in the construction supply business for more than 30 years, starting out as a bench mechanic & rapidly moving on to sales & sales management.  Hal also spent several years with both AEG and Robert Bosch Power Tool Companies in the late 1970’s.  He opened his own construction supply firm in 1987, & through a series of mergers & acquisitions, became Sr. VP of Sales & Marketing and part of the ownership group of ORCO, which sold to HD Supply in May 2009.  Hal is a sports enthusiast & enjoys golf.  ProBuild has been a member of STAFDA since 2004.

 

Harry Oblak is President of Grip Clinch Canada, North York, ON. His company specializes in distribution of pneu. & electric nailing, stapling, & screw driving products, their related fasteners, & automated production fastening syst. Oblak began his career in fastener distribution as a shipper/receiver in 1977. After working in the service depart. & outside sales, he became a partner with a distributor in 1987. In 1997, he became president & majority owner of Grip Clinch Canada & Phoenix Fast. Systems. When not working, Oblak spends his time golfing, & making weekly trips to senior residences with his 14-year old Golden Retriever. Grip Clinch Canada has been a STAFDA member since 1988.

 

Dan Steier is Vice President of Duo-Fast Northeast, East Hartford, CT, a family owned business started in 1949. Dan has been involved in the business for over 30 years, starting in the repair depart. & working his way through shipping & sales. Duo-Fast NE, which Dan runs with his brother Rod, is a distributor/wholesaler of collated fastening products, adhesives, & abrasives servicing the indust. & constr. markets in New England. Dan is very happy that a 3rd generation of Steiers are involved & contributing to the company's growth. Dan & Lisa, his wife of 25 years, have raised 2 children & in their leisure time, they're both involved in local theater. Duo-Fast Northeast has been a member since 1988.
 
Richard Stelzer is the President & Owner of the Merlin Stelzer Sales Co., St. Louis, MO. Rick is a 2nd-generation owner for this construction supply house that also provides rentals, repairs, sharpening, & reforging services. They are also a concrete sawing & drilling contractor, a member of CSDA. Rick is a graduate of Missouri State University, after graduating he worked with Texas Instruments as a prod. mgr. on a laser missile project. He is active with the leadership of his church, & his hobbies include sports, fishing, boating, golf, & time with his family. His wife, Sheila, works with the company, & they have two daughters, a son, & three grandchildren. Merlin Stelzer has been a member since 1978.
